#1: Just imagine being on that through-the-hoops aerial tram (presumably supported by a magnetic field) during a sudden power failure.
ReplyDelete#3: Why "pleasure tower"? If this had ever been built, there would have been endless jokes about the "Phare du Monde" as the "Phallos du Monde". And I can just imagine the drivers going round and round and round that external ramp until by the time they were almost at the top they would be completely dizzy and would crash right through that flimsy-looking railing. A constant rain of cars plummeting from two thousand feet up. Today there are actually a few buildings that high, but they're in places like the UAE and China where rulers indulge in pointless gigantism to show off (as Petr Beckmann said, "in democracies, engineering gets smarter and smarter; in gangster states, it gets bigger and bigger"), rather than focusing on practicality. Then there's that open observation platform exposed to the kind of wind you'd get at almost half a mile up. You will believe a man can fly!
