Taco Bell's 'Long Lost' Menu Item That Never Actually Disappeared Makes a Grand Return—in Certain States

The fan-favorite burrito is exclusive to participating Taco Bell locations.

Taco Bell fans will be happy to hear that a beloved menu item from the '90s appears to be making a big comeback at some locations.

Fast food enthusiasts may recall Taco Bell's Chili Cheese Burrito (a.k.a the "Chillito"), the cheddar cheese-filled burrito dressed with a hot and beefy chili sauce it introduced in 1990 as part of its budget menu and a 79-cent item. But halfway through the decade, the Mexican food-inspired chain decided to remove the option from its national menu, reportedly leaving the decision on whether or not to serve the item up to each individual franchise.

But now, it appears more restaurants are quietly re-introducing the "long lost" cheesy comfort food item to menus.

The Chillito appears to still be heavily regional, but over the years, its availability has expanded past the Midwest (where it has apparently remained the most popular). It is now being offered on select menus in states like New York, Florida, California, Washington, and so many other places, even prompting fans to organize a nationwide menu locator to help others hungry for nostalgia satiate their appetites.
