The more I am learning about Juneteenth, the sadder I am getting that it never happened sooner.

I object to Juneteenth being celebrated as a holiday to celebrate the end of the slavery. It took two fucking years for the news to be delivered to Texas, basically, that the Confederacy was defeated. Juneteenth should be a day of mourning and shame. But it should be acknowledged as such.
