I don't know; call me a socialist, but I've always found private yachts and planes to be disgusting displays of consumption. One might say they're "Other Worldly". Yes, they are for people who live in an"other" world.
Two oligarchs are boasting about their wealth and possessions. One oligarch says to the other, "My mega-yacht is 464 feet long. The other oligarch says, "Well, my mega-yacht is bigger than your mega-yacht, by 8 inches!"
Two childish adults, one with "mega-yacht envy"!
Let's file this one under "wretched excess and conspicuous consumption".
And yet another new category for your blog, Rick, the list grows.
How retro - RETROGRADE, back to the times of the Robber Barons of old. And middle-class people look up to these vainglorious assholes, and they wonder why they get no pay raises, better benefits or working conditions. Just look where the profits go, follow the money ! - Rj
