If you actually read the Old Testament, God comes across as a celestial Hitler with even worse anger-management issues. He's endlessly ordering massacres and smiting people for trivial reasons.
We have a remarkably rich and detailed fossil record of human ancestral and cousin species going back several million years. Ironically, there's no such fossil record for the evolution of chimpanzees. The actual reason for this is that chimpanzees live in rain forests and the conditions there are extremely unfavorable for formation of fossils, but the nutjobs would actually have better luck claiming chimpanzees were "specially created" than humans.

The quote by Allie Jackson succinctly states how i feel and think about today's intrusion of religion into our lives. After leaving my doctor's office today, I turned on the radio to be told that some states allowing restrictive abortion are now demanding that doctors "make the final call" but that decision can then put the mother and the doctor in legal jeopardy, especially if the state passes more and tighter restrictions or determines that "the call" was not legally valid. How long before these "morality" police stick their noses into the doctor-patient relationship and try to impose their beliefs upon other types of care for other diseases and health conditions? Where does this nonsense stop?? The moralists have their noses in our bedrooms and will start legislating what people can and cannot do for gay and hetero people (they already have singled out trans individuals). Will such intrusions continue until every facet of life is regulated by "their" rules? Shades of Orwell and Kafka!!!

Religions are only currently believed mythology. Do you want to believe in some god, because this belief holds you up and holds your life? go ahead, but don't piss others off.
