DeleteI love that first house. There was one of similar architecture over in Bristol right on Main Road. I would LOVED to have bought it, but back then (late 80's) though it was in similar condition, it was way over my budget ($400k back then!). Whomever bought it did a phenomenal restoration on it; but I dodged the bullet. That Main Road is the major thoroughfare for every frickin' straight-pipe motorcycle getting from Rhode Island proper down to Aquidneck Island (Newport and Jamestown). The noise along that road in the summer is terrible!

ReplyDeleteas being painted white, or gray and dingy with peeling paint from age. However they originally were painted in bright colors and were known as painted ladies.
# 2- Like an original two story house in San Francisco before the infamous 1906 earthquake. My great-great grandparents house on Diamond Street collapsed from the quake, and their canning business on Folsom Street burnt to the ground from the resulting fires. The stress of losing the house and the cannery caused my great-great grandfather to die from cardiac arrest two months later after the quake. When the family rebuilt their house they added a third floor with rooms to rent to earn money to pay back the bank loan to rebuild their house, as many other home owners had done in San Francisco. That’s why many of the houses from that time in San Francisco have three floors.

DeleteAu Canada, les voitures Mercury étaient commercialisés sous le nom de Monarch. La lignée du Monarch comprenait le Custom, le Lucerne et le Richelieu avec le moteur V8 Mercury.
ReplyDeleteAinsi que la Medalist, modèle économique équipé d’un moteur V8 Ford plus petit. Les Monarch étaient dotées de garnitures chromées supplémentaires et d’emblèmes en forme de couronne dorée.
Les pick-ups Ford étaient commercialisés sous la marque Mercury !
Exemple : Ford F-150 = Mercury M-150 :)
Mon grand-mère une Monarch Medalist de 1956 lavande et blanche, et mon oncle bûcheron avait un pick-up Mercury M-150 rouge. Les deux véhicules étaient très fiables ; grand-mère à garde sa Monarch pendant 20 ans.
