Celebrating a Happy Saturday with Snoopie, not celebrating a happy fourth. This day should have been a lifetime remembrance for those who lived it. Instead it is a day to remember that a democracy can be overwhelmed and manipulated into a corrupt and sordid display of personal gain and control by a few who found the way to turn Americans against each other and fulfill their desires for wealth and power at the expense of the many. Yes, I'll be stuffing myself with ribs and potato salad with the family and I'll be drinking too much at a neighbor's house later as we watch the yearly vulgar display of disposable income go up in smoke over the neighborhood. But it will be a disconnect for me and I imagine a few others also.
Thank you JiEL for your clear understanding of what we are going through and the difference between communism and socialism which has unfortunately gone bye-bye from the brains of an ignorant minority down here in the lower 48.

đșđž Happy Fourth of July !đœ Relaxing by the pool California style. Got the bbq going with hamburgers, hot dogs, beef ribs and corn on the cob. Also got the fixins of potato salad, broccoli salad, Hawaiian delight fruit salad along with homemade ice-cream, Martha Washington cherry cake and bourbon laced pecan pie :) Rick, where’s the food porn for America’s 250th ? The 2026 mid-term elections coming up in November may very well turn out to be our new Independence Day :) CA jock

ReplyDeleteThis year is an historical one but with more to divide you than unite you.
This is a sad and even disgraceful decision from 45-47 who is too self centered as he feel himself as a king.
I had yesterday a phone call from my friends in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, who are republicans MAGA fans. First they are melting with a over 117F but with their air conditioning it's ok but when he began to vomit over Mamdani asking to reduce the air conditioning to 78F telling it a communist behavior. I just said that for us in Canada, this is just common sense when the power grid is in danger like we do in winter when the winter very low temperatures make on power grid in danger.
I also told him that since last May and for 2 months, here in Montreal the city asked us to reduce our water consommation as they are fixing a huge water pipe. This is no communist behavior but just a civic way to inform us of what is going on in our infrastructures.
BTW our Hydro Québec is selling lot of electricity to NYC mostly in summer time when the demand in electricity is more important for air conditioning in the city.
