I'm surprised that tower still stands. Built by the last Shah Reza Pahlavi to commemorate the 2,500th anniversary of the Persian Empire, the original name was Shahyad Tower(Shah's Memorial." After the Iranian revolution in 1979, they renamed it Azadi Tower(Peace Tower).
