I've never understood people whose identity is tied to their job. Most people's jobs are the most boring thing about them.
ReplyDeleteA burger flipper in Denmark does make almost as much per hour as I used to make at my clerical accounting desk jobs, because it's the minimum wage over there. They also get paid vacation and sick leave (because it's mandated by law for all workers), and, like everybody in the country, health coverage from the government. It didn't make me resentful when I heard that, it made me wish we had the same here. And no, Big Macs in Denmark aren't much more expensive than in the US.
Well... I don't look down on the McDonald's worker for where they work, I look down on them for HOW they work. For how infrequently I venture through the local McDonald's drive-thru, they NEVER seem to get my order right, and I am only ordering a sandwich. I've given up.
ReplyDeleteThe restaurant has changed hands. I LOVED going there when I was working. The morning crew were all retirees, and the place ran like a ship! Orders done right, fast service, good people. Now all I see are young people who seem indifferent to making an effort.
Rade, regarding indifference is right. Then the option is for an 18-25% tip!
DeletePopeyes is even worse, you will never get the right order no matter who’s in charge.
DeleteThen again look at some of the abusive as hell customers fast food workers have to put up with, go see them in action on YouTube, it’s mind blowing !
Some employees end up murdered in cold blood.
And the companies never back their employees, as the customer is always right. Everyone is lucky that fast food employees show up for work.
No argument there either.
