Interesting that about the time we stopped hearing hiring perks as "corporate profit sharing", now we hear about how much money the CEOs and owners are making? Their prior benevolence was celebrated, but now their massive wealth is being demonized. As there are plenty of charitable organizations that can use help. BUT . . . that is just another way for them to shield money, it seems. Perhaps the upper limits on taxable income deductions need to be raised to motivate more "giving" by the billionaires and others?
ReplyDeleteHere's the thing about wanting to raise taxes on the uber wealthy: The amount of money they spend on political contributions and lobbying is WAY more than the amount they'd pay in those proposed taxes.

ReplyDeleteI have a maga aunt and uncle, they recently moved from California to a small town in Texas. Now they’re bitching that the town has no amenities like good restaurants, entertainment, art galleries or culture like they enjoyed in “libbed out” California! And that Texas doesn’t have a form of Medi-Cal to assist with medical bills and that offers drug discounts. Not to mention the “service fees” (Texan for taxes) and the higher property taxes that the state of Texas charges everyone. They decry that Texas is taxing their asses, and now they’re looking to move to a University town in another state that offers the liberal amenities they enjoyed in “libbed out” California.
