  1. Wow, some strange plans. I'm guessing that these were "summer cottages"; they are small and the last one has only one bedroom. Two of them have the huge dining room typical for this era; the rest have no dining room, so I guess you have to eat in the kitchen. The kitchens have only a sink, no cupboards or cabinets, but I guess that's what the pantry is for. The architect was in love with doors; instead of open doorways, there are unnecessary closable doors between living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens and hallways. #8254 has an unnecessary doorway between a bedroom and the living room, since that bedroom also has a door to the hallway, and #8256 even has two hallways with a door separating them for no reason.

  2. Affordable and practical houses from a bygone era. They could be built today without the lead paint and the asbestos.

  3. This is what we need today. Of course with today's sensibilities. I would call these starter homes. They rarely make them anymore. If so, it's a forever home.
