    I remember when that episode of All In The Family first aired in 1975, the trans character of Beverly La Salle played by Lori Shannon (1938-1984) was groundbreaking for a national television network show, as Beverly was depicted and treated in a sympathetic manner.
    Shannon played Beverly in 3 episodes.
