ReplyDeleteAnthony Gallo - who also did a few porn movies under his given name, Anthony Morais - hailed from Sao Paulo, Brazil and was born in 1962. Mr. Gallo stands at 5'8" but was a beautifully proportioned 200lb hairy muscle beast with an advertised uncut 9" hanging between his legs.
He showed up in Los Angeles in the 1980's and was an English Teacher professionally. However, he was struggling to find a job within the school districts around California because of the requirements to teach in the state (apparently higher than those in his home country). To make ends meet, he started competing in a few Muscleman Competitions in the late 1980's and was quickly noticed because he was strongly opposed to shaving his body hair (as was the standard for posing competitions at the time).
Anthony then turned to another direction by starting to model in fitness magazines and became a personal trainer where he found some success in the fitness industry and eventually in the early 1990's was noticed by some of the more - shall we say - fetish based movie studios, such as Cop Flix, Uniform Studios and Devil's Films. Working his way up the chain, he started going mainstream gay porn with Catalina FIlms and then eventually into the Falcon Films set of companies. Never one to stick with a single studio, Anthony worked for Falcon, Kristen Bjorn, Titan, Catalina, Channel 1, American Model Guild (AMG) and many other lesser-known studios.
Anthony stood out from other stars and was truly a pioneer in his heyday, even in the porn industry. He was short, powerfully built, hairy and uncut. This went completely against the grain of the standard gay mainstream porn star of the time who developed from the more "natural" 1970's/1980's stars, by becoming taller, toned, shaved smooth with little (or no) bush and circumcised penises. He was proudly and openly gay, a rarity at the time due to the lingering stigma of gay porn stars in mainstream media. Anthony was wildly popular and prolific in his craft, starring in over 145 individual films and another 10-15 or so compilations. This quantity doesn't even begin to come close to his pictorial contracts! He retired in the mid-2000's and - other than a few convention appearances - settled down quietly. The latest I could find about him is that he eventually went back to school to get qualifications to return to teaching, but I couldn't find anything beyond that. However, considering the time, I would posit he probably didn't go back to his profession; even today, most school districts have a thing about OF, so I can imagine what their reaction was getting an application from a major porn star of the era! :)
Fun fact - his son (who Anthony, in an interview with "Inches" magazine stated was conceived during a 1-night stand that "confirmed his homosexuality" in Brazil) also took a run in the gay porno world during the late 2000's/early 2010’s. A self-proclaimed bisexual, he was an almost exact twin of Anthony and was even mistaken a few times as Anthony trying to launch a comeback. However, by that time the world had moved on (yet again!) in taste and type, and his career was nowhere near as successful as his father’s.
