Um... I don't think "Trickle Down" was around in the age of LBJ... That was the "Reganomics" of the 1980's.
ReplyDeleteYes. Thank you. So much crap out there.
DeleteRade & LeftField - You both are absolutely correct.
DeleteWhile I was living in Canada, a Canadian asked me what the difference was between Americans and Canadians. "An American will give you the shirt off his back. A Canadian will make sure you have a shirt when he meets you." Just like the boots.
ReplyDeleteAs a Canadian, this is accurate. We as a social democracy did put in place some policies to make sure ALL Canadians would have help in many ways in their lives. The ultimate example is our universal healthcare system. But also our affordable education system like for one year in university a student fees are around $6000 to $ 10 000/ year as the government subsidise 82% of those fees.
DeleteThe term "trickle-down" was first used by the humorist Will Rogers in 1932 to describe Herbert Hoover's economic policies during the Great Depression, so it is possible that LBJ is responsible for that quote.
ReplyDeleteMira vos. Thank you for pointing this out.
