ReplyDeleteThat LAST one is the one I REMEMBER!! It WAS a great time in the USA, as long as one was a white person. Blacks and Browns, not so much as discrimination was still an issue for Blacks. Browns, not so much. In MANY cases, ALL colors contributed to the greater economy, though, in different ways. "Civil Rights" was still in its earlier "federalized" days.
ReplyDeleteSCREW all of the "Gilded Age" stuff that T wants to emulate (of course, him as one of the "robber barons" of the time). Lets go back to those middle 1960s times when life was fun and exciting. Many new engineering advances, electronic developments and expansions, ALL with the orientation of a BETTER LIFE FOR ALL!!! BUT . . . with ALL pf the progress items in social areas that we achieved in later years INTACT!! What a WONDERFUL WORLD that would be!!!
That first item was on display during the past federal election! People worried about paying bills and maybe saving some money for unexpected needs. Remember, it was on R watch that we first started to learn of people living paycheck-to-paycheck!!! GWB, I believe? When GWB's $300.00 Stimulus Checks went out and the economic needle did not move. Then a second one went out graphically indicated that the USA Citizenry was in "deeper Guano" that was apparent! Obama and his Keynesian Economic orientations got us out of that mess and back to prosperity . . . as Rs fumed that HE was able to do that!!! Proving that Ds know better economics than Rs do. THEN, Rs became the operative party of "RESISTANCE" to better lives for many citizens who voted (and still vote for them). Taking SMALL issues and making them into "national disasters which only THEY can fix, but usually do NOT fix to "better than before", as promised. Remember T's promise of a better Obama Care for less money, which has YET to happen? Still waiting!!!
A poor, uneducated, distracted population is so much easier to control.
ReplyDeleteI think the same as in USA it's flabbergasting to see those uneducated and poor voting and even send money to those wealthy candidates and elect them. Isn't there anyone to tell them that they are fooled by the 1% of richer people who don't give a damn about them.
DeleteHad an uncle who was in that high tax income bracket and he still lived the good life of nice homes, fine dining and driving around town in his beloved Cadillacs. Not to mention the generous holiday meals and parties he invited our whole family to. We had Thanksgiving and Christmas at his house all the time, you should have seen the food and gifts.
ReplyDeleteAnd pool parties in summer galore, where the music was provided by some garage band and the booze would flow.
My classmates in school never believed me about the feasts and good times we had. My uncle had no problem paying his taxes as he felt the tax system should benefit everyone, not the few, and ensure financial and social stability.
