Ten days is long enough...
I'm just...numb. Sad. I can't think about this shit any more; all I ruminate on is "How can this get any worse?", and he does it, in spades.
ReplyDeleteYes, the classic definition of "worse" has been magnified by Rs and T so much over the past 10 years, it is totally unreal. As if they have not knowledge of the word's definition, but they built their own. Now it has become a "point of reference" term.
DeleteYes, punctuation is very important! The best example of how this current news is taking its toll on us comes from the bastion of perverse information, Jeff Tiedrich. He ended his scathing post yesterday with this..."This is going to be my closing message for the foreseeable future." How long a pause he needs to recover his strength is unknown. I hope it won't be long. I love this guy.
ReplyDeleteAnd to that, WELCOME BACK, oh great and powerful WIZARD OF PORTLAND!
I like Jeff! His colorful language takes the edge of the seriousness of the situation he comments against, it seems. NOT to diminish the seriousness of the situation!!!
DeleteJust saw Jeff's new post. It's just the ending message that won't change in the foreseeable future, the practice self-care message. Thank goodness he still has his take on the day's news.
DeleteTo think anyone could fix the situation in the Middle East is nuts. They've been at war for thousands of years. All the bombing did was shake the hornet's nest.
ReplyDeleteThe whole volatility of the Middle East will most probably never change. Many "tribes" and "tribal mindsets" in that part of the world. The only real way they can tolerate others is to kill those that do not believe as they do . . . in orientations and/or the God each might worship. Where punishments are severe and quick for people who "break the law". More Old Testament-like, it seems. No structure to motivate any behavior other than "follow the religious teachings". It seems the populace does not understand how much their "leaders" are hamstringing them from becoming great. That THEY possess similar mental abilities as those who are leading them, if not more. The fact that women and girls had great times when the Taliban was not running things is evidence to that.
ReplyDeleteIran getting the capabilities to do uranium enrichment has been going on for over 20 years! There are other supply networks they can get the machines and such from other than through the USA or United Nations! Even if it is much lower-grade, gotten "on the sly".
Someday, the "leaders" running things might wake up and realize their grand nations are now in complete ruin as all of their subjects have been killed or have died from lack of food. THEN what will they have to use for armies and such? Sure, these leaders will be able to buy food, with no loyal subjects to clean their residences for them. Imagine T with an apron on and a non-gold broom in his hand, much less a Swiffer? THEY destroyed themselves in the process of trying to prove how powerful they were. Certainly, they can hire contractors from "The West", bur contractors can leave, somehow or another.
IF Iran wants uranium to fuel electricy-generating nuclear reactors, then let them transition into wind, solar, and batteries! Space lasers??
Once again Americans think the Middle East will be a “cake walk”, like they said about Iraq. How did that end ? Remember when President Bush said mission accomplished on an aircraft carrier deck, when it was far from accomplished, because little or nothing was accomplished. And look how Afghanistan turned out ! And Iran is far bigger in area and population than either Iraq or Afghanistan, as well as better organized. Yes, America is going to have another “cakewalk”. Just like Viet-Nam, when Americans joked they would bomb it into a parking lot, and a Viet Cong leader commented “when the Americans turn our country into a parking lot we will be there to slash their tires and cut their throats”. The USA never learns, more trillions will go to waste, more lives snuffed out and war crimes galore.
