IF, for whatever reason, T does not complete his first term, that means we have JD and Johnson are Pres and V-P. Remember the "Peter Principle"??? That fact might be keeping T alive?
As I (a mere holder of a B. A in Political Science) understand it: Vance, yes; in the event of the President's inability to complete their term due to death or disability, the Vice President completes the President's unfinished term. In that case, the new President can nominate a person eligible to be president (not Musk) to become the new Vice President. It could be Johnson, but need not be.
