It seems strange at first that most super-rich people are assholes compared to the average person, but with rare exceptions, non-assholes don't become super-rich in the first place. It's almost impossible to reach Musk-like levels of wealth without exploiting the shit out of people, and a non-asshole whose wealth was approaching billionaire levels would start thinking of all the good they could do with it and start giving away more and more of it (see Taylor Swift, JK Rowling) so that they wouldn't end up accumulating the kind of truly staggering mountains of money the super-assholes like Musk and Bezos do. It's a system that rewards the worst people with the most power.
