Early 1900s
(The top two will get larger, but the bottom two won't.)

ReplyDeleteUpton - Those were the days a laborer made 22 cents an hour.
DeleteI think the last one has the smallest kitchen ever - 8x8 feet, minus space for a chimney, which presumably is for a furnace in the basement, though there's no stairs or way to get to the basement. This 8x8 kitchen has no sink, no counters, no cupboards, no appliances. It makes you wonder what their concept of a kitchen was.
ReplyDeleteUnashamed - Apparently you had to provide your own cabinets. The cellar was probably a ground-level access out back of the house.

ReplyDeleteAunt had a 2 bedroom bungalow house in Santa Ana Ca that she purchased through HUD in 1969 for $17,000, she sold the bungalow in 1992 for $100,000.
ReplyDeleteThe bungalow last sold in 2015 for $450,000, it’s now for sale at $750,000 !
Carl & Anon - That's crazy, ain't it?
