Regarding the Gervais quote, something atheists need to be aware of when arguing this point:
It actually isn't true that hard-core Bible-believing Christians believe the gods of other religions simply don't exist. They believe those gods exist, but are actually demons presenting themselves as gods to deceive humans. I've seen this stated as being common knowledge on fundie and hard-line Catholic websites any number of times. There are several passages in the Bible that essentially say the same thing. Atheists need to be aware of this, since arguments based on the claim that Christians consider other gods to be "silly made-up nonsense" don't reflect reality and can make the atheist appear naïve or ignorant.
