Every time I see (Pic6) the interior of the lobby of the Hyatt Embarcadero (San Francisco), I can't help but overlay it with scenes from "The Towering Inferno" (the lobby of the hotel was used as the lobby of the 'Glass Tower')... that's the one that sticks out, even though it used as a setting in many movies.
While it was award-winning (the hotel lobby) back in the late 60's when it was built, I still find it amazing today that it hasn't changed all that much, other than a few superficial things (namely, removal of the fountains). It's a great testament to iconic architecture and interior design.

Yup, looks very similar to the interiors of the Motel 6s I stay in occasionally. LOL
Thanks for that info RBrysco. I recalled seeing that lobby prominently seen in Mel Brooks' "High Anxiety" movie, the masterclass parody of Alfred Hitchcock films.

@whkattk - You are so right! I was never particularly impressed with Las Vegas hotels (or the city in general!) to be honest. I have never lived there but used to go there frequently on business trips.
Everything there (in my opinion) was over the top, some drug-fueled fantasy of what an adult's Disney World would be like. There was no substance, no elegance - it just seemed to be all cosmetic style; kind of like a pig's ear sewn into a silk purse or Liberace in his elaborate costumes. I remember back in the 1980's there used to be a term, "Euro-trash;" the definition of what people used to call rich Europeans with too much money, no class or breeding that would give you something to respect or appreciate.
You don't really see places like Vegas in Europe - even the high-gambling resorts and draws like the South of France, the Riviera or the Maldives - those high dollar tourist trap spots are done with class and style. I guess Las Vegas helps to solidify that European believe in "Brash, Trashy Americans."

Wow! I haven't thought about that movie in years! I have always loved Mel Brooks movies, and "High Anxiety" - while not one of his best rated, always made me laugh all the way through it!
There is just something about Madeline Kahn climbing out of a Cadillac in a jumsuit and heels in the same pattern that the car is! (https://youtu.be/_euAhdMk1ok?si=azq35U_7sQGq0FeV) That tickled me to death... guess I should have known at that point that I was gay... And I truly believe that Mel Brooks was the original creator of the "Car Wrap" just for that scene!
And who the hell could forget Cloris Leachman as Nurse Diesel?!? Wow.. thanks for bringing that some good memories! :)
