I don't think any serious historian believes that the Jewish captivity in Egypt, or the Exodus, actually happened. Most modern rabbis don't. There's no evidence for it at all and nothing like it is mentioned in Egyptian historical records.
Supposedly the refugees took forty years to get across the Sinai peninsula. It's been calculated that a snail would cover that distance in less than five years.

no.3 is so sadly what some Americans are thinking when they are such ignorant to know all the phases the Bible went trough to land in the American version which is far from the aledge original ones.
The Bible was manipulated for milenias and thousands of years by religious scribs, kings, presidents and religious scholars etc that some parts are no more there and biased to suit some religious or political gains.
This should never be for USA to become such a Christian country because it's the opposite of what your founding fathers were dreaming of.
They got the independence for the England crown exaxtly to be out of any religious influence back then.
