To Anonymous @5:41 AM - You have a right to a different political ideology but your continued comments are really a waste of your time. I assure you that this blogger and all of us who follow his blog are NOT upset with your demeaning rants and comments. On the contrary, I am amused and entertained by your point of view and realize why you find your insulting wording necessary. I wonder if you see any comments from us demeaning people like you on the blogs that share your viewpoint because I certainly don't waste my time visiting those websites with which I do not agree. Please go and do your duty in someone else's sandbox, your efforts are wasted here.
Perhaps :leftists/progressives" need to understand one thing, so they will bre more motivated to vote . . . IF a Republican wins the White House and Republicans win at least one legislative group (house or senate), their desires to get ANYTHING done on their agendas goes up in smoke! Period. Plain and simple. Voting for some alternative, third party candidate does not work either!!!
Each time a Republican has followed a Democrat as President, the good and expansive economies that were in place faltered and regressed. Economies fueled by higher tax rates, where the government then gave the money back ot the states to distribute for the public good. Yet each of the Republicans then cut taxes and that meant less money to give, as it also tended to raise local tax rates because everybody still expected the same "level of service" the prior tax money had provided. Pay your money to the Government, get it back locally, or just pay more locally . . . same end result. Only thing is that most locals are prevented from identifying as "Democrat" or "Republican".
The good things Republicans have done are few. Nixon signed into law the legislation inventing the EPA. Now, Republicans want to eliminate it (obviously NOT understanding how important it is to life on Earth!!), now claiming it unconstitutional or claiming "over-reach" (one of their favorite words over the past decade or so, for things their donor don't like). The USA led the world in this area, for many years.
Remember . . . Republicans do not like to spend money, even if it might be used for INVESGTMENTS in expanding and maintaining infrastructure so the economy keeps building upon past achievements. Forgetting that "a little bit now, incrementally, saves more money in the long run". They smile at the money they are saving daily, but then complain loudly when they have to spend much more later on to fix what could have been fixed earlier, with preventative maintenance.
Many Republicans forget the mortgage rates under Reagan, or that it was proven that "trickle down" does not work. They forgot how greedy big corporations can be, sending profits to their shareholders rather than prudently keeping some in reserves for expansion and/or rainy days, rather than increasing employee pay a bit (which they claim leads to inflation).
Republicans have made being "progressive" and "leftist" into fighting words, for them, as if they are a villain who must be killed. Things could not be further from the real truth! While they desire to moderate their own Far Right agendaists at the same time. The Republicans have been moved so far to the right that anything near the center is now "radical" by comparison.
If EVERY Democrat does not vote "Democrat" in any election, plus some Independents, Republicans will continue to blockade any progress (as they have been) as they continue to demonize anybody who does not follow their desires, as economic progress will be further stymied. As the rich get richer and the poor suffer.
Since 2015-16 it's going crazier and crazier in USA.
It's more than time that someone «new» get on both tickets to stop that ballistic destruction of American democracy.
Seeing all those whinning people on both sides like children in a school yard gives the rest of the democratic countries a bad taste of your country.
In other countriesm, lke here in Canada, we are debating «policies», how to help our country and our people to have a better living, etc, but not insulting the peresonalities of those who have the courage to bve on the tickets.
We also don't give money to ONE candidate but to the party he represent.
We don't have such old institution as the «great electors» and here EVERY votes count. For that in 2016 Hillary Clinton would have won.
Another different is that while you are demonising the «leftist» we have not such thing here as even our Conservative Party in federal side is «progressive» and not a far right party.
What you call «left» in the Democrat party we call it conservative here.
Time to look around and out of USA to take the real perspecive of what is becoming the American experiment.

The Republican party is self-branded as the party of free speech and all things conservative - that is, until you disagree with them or confront them with facts. Then, they instantly transform into the party of anti-abortion, autocracy, bigotry, christian nationalism, climate change denial, division (based on socioeconomic status), hatred, homophobia, misogyny, oligarchy, patriarchy, racism, transphobia, trump, xenophobia...As for me, I am proud to be gay and I am proud to be a "yellow dog Democrat" - I would vote for a yellow dog before I would vote for a Republican. And as for you, "Anon@5:41 AM", your "stick with your pics" comment tells me you are probably a "Log Cabin Republican" or just another internet troll. The RepubliCANTS can't help themselves, let alone others, that's to be expected of people who have absolutely no empathy. President Truman had a Republican congress that he called the do-nothing congress. Notice all the women at the Trump rallies, reactionary as hell. A book was published after the Kennedy assassination about the city of Dallas and its citizens. It was noted that the extremist politics in that city were perpetrated by the politically active women of Dallas who goaded their husbands, fathers and sons into extremist political positions. i.e., the ad in a Dallas newspaper calling Kennedy a traitor, instigated by the reactionary wives of business leaders in Dallas.
Gleeful in their hatred, then suddenly left shit faced with Kennedy's political murder in their beloved blood-stained Dallas.
I do not agree that progressives lost the elections for Gore and Hillary.
Gore lost because corrupted members of the US Supreme Court would not let votes be counted in Florida. Hillary won the popular vote, but she ignored visiting certain States, as advised by her husband and others, that give you the win in the obsolete electoral college. Progressive and Independent voters put Biden in the White House and will do so in 2024, and with that, finally send that pile of shit Trump and the wacko Republicon congress into the sewers with one big FLUSH.
The White Trash Party needs to be stomped-HARD! I am afraid they'll resort to violence, human garbage that they are. Fuck very Nazipublican on every level

That montage perfectly represents what the Republican Party has devolved into: juvenile, schoolyard taunts mixed with death threats and genuine, often lethal, violence. That's all they've got. And they use those sad tactics to protect an army of wealthy politicians who ONLY aim is to make themselves wealthier with virtually NO regard for their constituents. It's flabbergasting.
