  1. All the more reason to vote and vote blue... we can't become progressive until we get rid of those standing in the way... the hypocrites, the greedy, the prudish, the religious right. F 'em. Vote.

  2. Again this morning I saw the news about the SCOTUS judgement about the LGBTQ not able to have service in «Christian businesses».
What a non sens from a Canadian point of view.

USA human rights is a scam as one Christian business man or woman can say they aren't servicing a gay couple because of their «faith» as Christian.
Well dear Christians, did Jesus said»"Love each other even your ennemy.."

The poeple in USA that aren't «white-Christian-straight-guys» will always and eternaly struggle to make their rights aknlowleged.

Again Evangelicals and Christians in USA aren't really applying the US Constitution as it was ment to be out of any state religion.

The founding fathers were fleeing the England royal ruler because of it was the «pope» of the Englican religion and a monarch by blood.

Today, USA is goiong backward and want to put a «king» on the trone name «Trump the 47»... King of Evangelicals and hypocrits.

  4. @ JiEL - Yes, Trump has caused more damage to this country in 7 years than anyone ever has in its 240+ years. The SCOTUS he put in place is slowly dismantling all that was achieved during the last half of the 20th century. Yes, the right wants and strives to go back to when the only ones with any power at all, in any sense of the word, were *heterosexual* **white** ***men***.
The only thing that will save this country now is a complete routing out of the Republicans from all levels of government. Yet I fear there won't be enough people recognizing that to make it happen.

  5. It seems the "conservatives" are stretching the First Amendment in ways it was never intended to be interpreted. So many things are now "free speech" that have nothing to do with actual talking "speech". Hair styles, religious orientations, somebody in business refusing service on religious beliefs. What next? Makes no sense!

It would seem that anybody in business is there to make money. Used to be that they could refuse service to minorities, for whatever reason, and get away with it. Or find some reason to not wait on them, in a nice manner. In so many respects, "a difference of opinion" (which is what the whole deal is about, no matter how you desire to frame it) is just that. In one respect, if a sign is posted "No service to . . . ." is posted next to "No shirt, No shoes, No service", the sign might take up the bulk of their front door or window. Letting everybody else know how they feel in the process.

Then there are the people who get a good job, as a pharmacy tech. A good job they can make good money at. "Oh, I can't work on Sunday", but that won't happen to me." Or they get a prescription to fill for a drug they can't handle. Should have known those things might happen, up front, when they got into that profession. Then, when those things happen, get fired for not doing their job, they mention their religious convictions and things go all the way to the Supreme Court of the nation. How's such a normal pay check financing these legal battles? Follow the MONEY!

So now we've got the potential for 1950s-era discrimination at the whims of "religious conservatives" who follow the beliefs of people who advocate for discrimination rather than "Love your neighbor as your brother", or similar.

The conservatives looked the other way in order to get Trump elected and get them a conservative court. "Conservatives" is not really a bad thing, but as The Federalist Society recommended the picked judges, that meant most of them are "originalists" too. And THAT id a bad thing, as things have played out. That is why things have gotten so out of whack, it seems.

Combine that with the recent revelations of many of the conservative justices not recusing themselves while hearing cases of those whom they were or are doing business with makes it all the more worse. "Self-governance" does not seem to be one of their strong suits, so strict oversight of their out-of-court activities needs a tighter monitoring oversight activity! But if that might happen, listen to the vocal conservatives start to shout "Over-reach!", as they fully know why such oversight is needed.

As things continue to play out, the real "demons" are the "Conservatives" who claim "Democrats" are the demons. Republicans need to be held accountable for their activities and dangerous orientations! THEY got us in to this mess to start with, but as they "can't fix anything, just tear it up", they keep saying "It's their fault" as they run to hide.
