  1. Okay... why would the Government need peach pits? Soulds a bit fetishistic to me.

  2. "Our Highways of Tomorrow"

I am 65 and back in the day the United States had promise.

The throwback advertisement you posted reminded me of how unfortunate our infrastructure is in need of repair/updating. We did away with railroad travel for the automobile. We pulled up a lot of tracks that could have been used today. Why not have both. Would it be great to have a speed rail connecting to all of our major cities? This past week we had the meltdown of Southwest and the FAA infrastructure. Why not mandate that systems that run our vital infrastructure be no more than 5 years old-something like that. We have the Republicans trying to stop the hiring of IRS agents and update the agency's internal processes. This alone will bring more money into our coffers. You know, spend money to make money. Governor Abbott of Texas is crowing about how much revenue Texas has made in the past year. Yes, the till is full because of all the price hikes in the power supply. Power is supplied by a company that has done nothing to really solve the issue of a stable power grid. Texans should not run their washers at the same time. We could talk about inflation and record corporate profits. It's all about the money grab. What's with all this stock buyback shit. It was not allowed until Regan stepped in. I could go on.

Some say the cumulative ills of what we are experiencing now started when Regan was in office and it went downhill from there. I think back and think that the US should be in a better, forward-thinking position than we are in now. This is why we can't have nice things. The next two years are going to be rough. Can someone put me on ice?

  3. "The perfected gas masks used by both sides contained a chamber filled with specially prepared charcoal. Peach puts were collected by the millions in all the belligerent countries to make this charcoal, and other vegetable substances of similar density were also used. Anti-gas chemicals were mixed with charcoal."----Goggle

  4. VRCooper - Yes, the next two years will definitely be bumpy. So many things started sliding down the tubes after Reagan. Thanks for the peach pit answer. (Although, the sign above the barrel in the image explained why they were needed.)
