How old is that poster/leaflet from NY? The society began in 1952 in LA, the NY chapter opened in 1955 (disbanded in 1987). That's how long the LGBTQ community has been organized and fighting for equal rights. The Respect for Marriage Act is a step in the right direction, but it doesn't make same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states. The fight continues....
Pat - I have no idea how old that poster is. Thanks for the history lesson, though. I also had no idea that the new law doesn't force legality in all the states. Crap!
Your new «Marriage Act» which isn't only for same sex marriage but also for interacial ones too is another small step in USA for equality for all your citizens.
Seeing that woman GOP-Evangilical Senator crying in the Senate to vote against the bill said it all. As long as those Evangelicals and Christian extremist have power over the politic system in USA, it'll always be a cha-cha dance for any freedom rights in your divided country.
Just one case being brought to the con-servative SCOTUS and all would be in jeopardy like the abortion rights.
Thank god I live in Canada. We did settle all this after 1982.
