This train is the Mercury daytime streamliner passenger train operating between midwestern cities. Chicago 1936.
I think it was called the «Bullet».

JiEL... You are correct. There's a great Wikipedia article with awesome pics at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_(train). The photo with the magazine article can be enlarged enough to be readable, and the interior pics are pretty cool. I just love trains!
