2023 Cadillac Lyriq EV

The car is beautiful, but I'm not sure about the red interior.

  1. I can deal with the red interior as long as the pattern in the seat inserts is NOT that "diamond pattern" that used to be reserved for "used car lot upholstery". This will be a car the 1/2-percenters can afford, provided they didn't fudge on their taxes.

  2. Anon@7:21am - Actually, the price starts at $59,900. Cheap enough that you and I can each get one.

  3. Rick, you know my unbridled passion for these new Cadillac EVs and you have me salivating again. But what we're viewing is a prototype concept for the upcoming flagship luxo sedan called the Celestiq which is slated for production soon and available possibly in 2024. The car will be hand-built and will cost $300,000.00+. This seems like quite a risk for the carmaker and will definitely be a car for the 1 percenters. The 2023 Lyric will have its price bumped up to $62,000.00 and will feature a few upgrades and all-wheel drive as an option. I's a good thing it doesn't cost anything to dream, right?

  4. That's the Concept for the upcoming Celestiq. It's the EV return of the big Cadillac Sedan. It's expected to be priced at around $300,000. The Lyriq is a faux SUV that looks like every other mid-sized faux SUV except for the Cadillac "Art and Science" touches. The Whorehouse Red interior is a Cadillac Car Show tradition.

  5. Milleson & Gary - Wow, you two know your cars! Was I suckered with whichever article I found? (I don't remember where I got this.) It said they would start at $59,900. Gee, I might have to save for a few more years to pay that $300,000 price tag. But, no Whorehouse Red interior, thank you very much. :-)

  6. A quick follow-up, Rick. Production numbers expected to be around 400 units and the car will be customizable by the buyer to the extreme. One article said if the buyer wants the interior wood to be from a tree is his front yard, Cadillac will accommodate. Hence the over-the-top pricing. The Celestiq won't be a cash cow for Caddy. Its main purpose is to sell it to a few Arab sheiks, world billionaires and Silicon Valley nouveau riche and let them advertise Cadillac styling and technology. The 2+2 bucket seat architecture should remain in the finished car but buyers may opt for a bench seat in the rear to offer seating for one more passenger. My favorite car was a 1976 metallic silver Chevy Monte Carlo with padded silver landau roof, red interior, red pinstriping and side rub strips on the doors. Nothing wrong with a whorehouse interior if it's done with taste and that car was a definite looker.

  7. It's okay. It does have an elegance. And yes, that interior looks like something a Marvel superhero would drive.

The price made me cry, but I got a chuckle out of the "Whorehouse Red interior"!!

That reminds me this whore has to plug in the lights!! I have this little fake Christmas tree, that for whatever holiday it is, I put that kind of lights on it. So for instance, I have red, white and blue, on from Memorial day to till Labor day. PS: This is a little "whorehouse" when it comes around Valentine's Day!!! ALL RED interior!!

I love hearing you guys talk about cars, so macho!! I thought I did a manly thing when I added some power steering fluid to my car today, must be a leak someplace.

Rick honestly you don't have to post this.

  9. It will NEVER be as beautiful as a '54 Coupe deVille

    (...or a '57...)

  10. Milleson - Thank you for the follow-up, that reveals a lot. I looked up the '76 Monte Carlo and captured a few images to post sometime in the future. Thanks.

Scott - Oops, my bad. I published your comment without reading the whole thing first. Now your secret is out, sorry.

Uncle Vic - I looked up both of those cars and captured some images. I like the '57 better.
