Milleson - I think that's adorable.
ReplyDeleteScott - Same here.
Can't resist either: I vote this cutie to be on the Stephen Frears biography’ cover...
ReplyDeleteLol..! I’ve had it for years and now just reading it. John Lahr was the author. (I never knew…Bert’s son..!)
DeleteLaurent - If you insist.
ReplyDeleteAnon - I'm afraid I don't understand.
ReplyDeleteFamed British movie director Stephen Frears has done some gay themed films including My Beautiful Launderette, and Prick Up Your Ears which was based on the biography of gay British author Joe Orton (who wrote among others the plays Loot and Entertaining Mr. Sloane). Orton was in a long time but troubled relationship with Kenneth Halliwell who brutally murdered Orton and killed himself after, in 1967. The biography was written by John Lahr, the son of Bert Lahr who was most famous for playing the Cowardly Lion in Wizard of Oz. The title, Prick Up Your Ears, was one Orton himself came up with for work he never completed. It’s a fabulous play on words…as ‘ears’ is a mix up of ‘arse’. (Gary Oldman and Alfred Molina play Orton and Halliwell in the movie, also starring Vanessa Redgrave.)
DeleteAnon@8:31am - Wow! That is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed, Rick and thanks for giving me the opening to expound…! (Ooh…! See how I Ortonized that…!) :p)
