In Memoriam
Tony Dow
I'm not ashamed to admit that even today, when I catch a rerun of "Leave It To Beaver", I still get the hots for Wally Cleaver.
Same here... I always had the hots for Wally! Tony Dow! That wonderful sweet matter-of-fact voice he had! Those lips... Those eyes... What a sweet gorgeous guy!
ReplyDeleteRick, I join you in your crush on Wally Clever. He was the only reason I watched the show. Lovely man.
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone. I always thought he was cute. I'm just about your age.

ReplyDeleteTony Dow rest in peace. Really one of the good guys.
Rick I'm with you, not ashamed at all to say I had a crush on Wally, before I even know that I liked men. He was an champion swimmer too.
You did an excellent job on the sires of photos you posted.
Thanks you so much.
Wally was indeed a crush back in the day - we all wanted him for a big brother - and he did indeed age into a silver fox - knowing hospice folks as I do, I'm sure they made his passing both comfortable and peaceful - just sad that he couldn't enjoy a few more years - the set of pics you chose is perfect!! Thank for a lovely pictorial remembrance
ReplyDeleteCarl - Yes! Those eyes. And the body.
ReplyDeleteTaurus - Agreed. Him mostly, but also the situations.
GF - The two of us thought alike.
Scott - I didn't know at the time, but not long after, I knew I liked men.
jsstrand - Well, gee, I wanted to touch him in the worst way. I hope his passing was easy.
I, too, like to see Wally on the show. Later, when I got computered, I searched for shirtless images, too. When the show was on in its original years, I just knew I like Wally The swim/surf images from back then just intensified that "like". May he rest in peace. TV was great back then, just that we didn't know it.
ReplyDeleteRIP, he was good and dedicated actor. My condolonces for his family and fans
ReplyDeleteA different Tony Dow was my office landlord - a grizzled ex-navy officer efficiently running the family real estate trust in Harvard Square. All the cute boys were upstairs in my office!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this tribute.
ReplyDeleteJerry - My pleasure.

ReplyDeleteI mean, who DOESN'T?
Mark - No one that *I* know.
