When there are as many McDonalds as gun shops in USA there is a real issue in USA.
In texas you have to be 21yo to buy alcool but 18yo to buy a AR-15 mass shooting riffle. That is a non sense and more: why do a 18yo absolutly NEED to own a R-15?
I was a teacher for 37 years in province of Quebec and NEVER had to do such active shooter drill. NO guns are allowed anywhere here and it's illegal to carry a weapon no matter where and when.
For mental health, we have also many issues like that in our society but our level of mass shootings for mental health is almost to zero.
In fact, death caused by mass shootings by 100 000 people is low as 0,5 in Canada and 45 in USA....
The huge difference comes from the easy way you can purchase a gun in USA.

in Italy it is possible to have weapons but you must have a license from the Police and must be renewed and is never final & definitive
