Some great ones here. If the first one is real, it sounds like a small-business owner whose standard of living isn't enormously far removed from that of the typical worker. It's hard to imagine Amazon or Mall-Wart making such allowances to help an employee.
ReplyDelete"They got you fighting a culture war to stop you from fighting a class war" -- I've been trying to make this point for years. It does the average blue-collar MAGA-hat factory worker no harm if gay people can get married. It does the average Portland liberal no harm if a guy in rural Oregon can own a gun. What does them both harm is precarious health insurance and skyrocketing housing costs and a minimum wage one-half what it is in most developed countries.
The Debs quote will be denounced by some, but I hope they'll give it some thought. There's no denying that the Democrats are somewhat better on these issues, but have they really gone all-out on a higher minimum wage or Medicare expansion -- or done anything at all about empowering unions or standing up for continued work-from-home as employers grimly try to drag everyone back to their offices? A real workers' party would be doing far more.
Infidel753 - It boils down to my over-simplified desire: If capitalists and politicians would just do the right damn thing, we'd all be so much better off.
ReplyDeleteOh, a VERY telling investigative journalism happened here when it comes to taxes. Back in the 2000's the repuke-controlled state legislature passed a couple of new tax laws on Property Transfers. Apparently, the big gaming property sales don't have to pay the transfer tax. As a result, the state has lost billions in corporate taxes. Meanwhile... Joe Homeowner will pay approximately $1250 upon selling his $300k home. Can you imagine what the transfer taxes would be on the $2.3B Wynn Casino sale?
ReplyDeleteFuck Amazon. I will pay more and wait for something before getting it from Amazon.
ReplyDeleteFuck Amazon! I will pay more and waiting for something before using Amazon. I've never hated a company more.
ReplyDeleteLet's not forget organizations like Amazon that do not pay a living wage and workers are on Medicaid...They should be billed...
ReplyDeleteAlso a side note--love the pictures of "things" that you post...For example the red barn...I am daydreaming about what I could turn that into...Leave the outside the way it is but turn the inside into a living space...On the other end, I have never been a fan of "staged" porn...Love natural pictures----
Have a great week!!
Pat - Oh, gee, let me guess...
ReplyDeleteMistress - Get it all out!
VRCooper - I know what you mean by staged porn.
I hope the last one is true. The first story was sweet, if true. And #5 and #6 speak volumes of truth.
