There used to exist, in time and space,
ReplyDeletea peculiar species called human race;
it evolved on a planet green and blue,
that was its home, all what it knew.
Amongst them some desired to know more:
What causes a thunder? How birds fly and soar?
They were told by others: "Those are god's work,
curiosity is a sin that in shadows lurk!"
-But we can find better ways to do and be.
"That's blasphemy! Evil talk, can't you see!"
-What's harm in wanting to study and learn?
"Because of that profanity you shall burn!"
So; there used to exist, in time and space,
a peculiar species called human race
and it held itself as a crown of creation,
yet caused its own wretched damnation.
(My trust to humankind isn't strong,
but I hope it proves me wrong,
but if we refuse to learn and grow,
we doom ourselves to an evolution's gallow.)
Preacher - OMG, I love this! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, sir.
ReplyDeleteMy update of the Edmund Burke quote is:
ReplyDelete"Those who don't want others to know history, want that history repeated"
Carl - Because it was so much fun the first time.
ReplyDeleteFirst one is spot on. The second one is truly disturbing. The third one, sadly true. And the fourth one should actually be taught in schools. I went to school. Yeah... they skipped that part.
ReplyDeleteif you are actually following history you would see that republicans were instrumental in passing both the civil rights act of 1964 and the voting rights act over democratic opposition. regardless of what you think of republicans at least get the history correct.
ReplyDeleteAnon - You are absolutely correct. I will try to do better.
