All very fair and right.
ReplyDeleteAs a non-US citizen I most certainly have biased or at least very partial point of view, yet I can't help wondering in which ways the American society would have turned out if Mr Sanders had been elected 4 years ago.
I am aware this kind of questions serves little purpose, but it keeps me vigilant as to how President Biden and his administration will manage a whole people whose pride and ability to earn a descent living has been stolen from by a handful of individuals still in charge in key areas.
(mental beeper ringing : time to welcome the evening with a glass of wine. Cheers to you and Jerry)
BatRedneck - I really wanted Bernie Sanders to be president, both times he ran. Unfortunately, it wasn't in the cards. Many believe his success was stolen from him by the powers that be. I have my suspicions, but I can't really say. Now it is up to Biden to carry the torch toward more equitable arrangements.
ReplyDeleteEvery single one of these is so right on. I think we should resurrect that saying, by the way. Right on! And Bernie? Get it done. I think it is sad that the rich have so much influence on the lives of the poor, and, in fact, create the poor. Eat the rich! Bezos - buy Detroit and fix it, ya bum!
ReplyDeleteThis society classes battles are not new in the world and USA seems to be blinded by the power of money owned by the 1% while the 99% working class make them richer.
ReplyDeleteThe issue here is that in USA such «socialist» views are drowned by those who have that money power. I'm always estonish to hear on TV how much this of that lawmaker or election candidate gadered million of dollars to be elected.
Now with the pandemic, Biden is trying to help the poorest to be able to eat and pay their rent and only surviver while those full stomach republicans are making fuzz around the among of money to vote for..
Here in Canada, our Prime Minister never hesitate to put up tha CPU as soon as in last March to give $500/week to those how lost their jobs according to the Covid. And more, ALL our 4 other parties did vote for it without any question to say it was one of the thing to do.
Not mentionning that here we have our universal health care for ALL..
Never have to pay a bill to see a doctor or go to a hospital etc..
The fear of socialism his haunting USA's population since the 50's.
uptonking - Right On!!
ReplyDeleteJiEL - In many ways Canada is so much more civilized than down here. The United States has a very long way to go to be an equitable country.
I know how hard the situation is in USA.
ReplyDeleteI have two gay couples in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, living just on each sides of the same street.
On couple is Democrate and the other really «hard» Republican.
No way we talk politics with the Republican couple because they are going on with Fox News, Qanon and other extremist fake fantasies.
They have those ideas that thwy would go and kill Obama or Nancy Pelosi etc..
Also, they are against having universal health care: why would I pay for those lazy dumps to have free medical care. They just have to work and pay for their health care insurances.
And in that Republican couple, one is a Christian Orthodox believer.
JiEL - The hypocrisy is astounding.
ReplyDeleteIn Italy we've universal health care for all (called SSN - Servizio Sanitario Nazionale - National Health Service) from 1978, but the population in Italy is 60 million. You USA people are many more.
ReplyDeleteXersex - Around 350 million people here. More people to share the tax burden of universal health care. Yet, we don't have it.
