This is one of the reasons I went to Eugene over the weekend. The other is David, the hot man who lives there who I went to visit and just happens to be president of the Glassbar Island Volunteers. Those dedicated people have cleared and keep the area cleared of wild blackberry bushes, which would make access to this clothing optional area impossible.This first map shows the area that used to be available for exploring. The second map shows the area now off-limits because the county, out of the blue, has forbidden access to it. Too bad, because there are some very neat places there.

Why have they decided to close this area. My guess is that the county wants to protect native wildlife. Or it is a hot cruising area and it have become a problem.. The city of Los Angeles closed a huge section of Griffith Park, Google it, because the hills were a great place to hook up with a guy or to just hike and sunbathe. That was twenty years ago and it's still closed to cars, but you can hike in but then you are to tired to "do it".
Mike - David is sure it's cuz the county wants to get rid of the "gay element" when all that's going to happen is it'll be taken over by homeless people again. The part that's still okay to go to is owned by the state. I Googled Griffith Park and boy, that place is huge!
Griffith is huge and beautiful. Speaking of "hobos" taking over. That is exactly what they did at Griffith. There have been three big fires there in the last ten years. The last one, Google Griffith Park fire 2007, wipped it out. These fires were started by camp fires, where transients has set up "housekeeping". It truly broke my heart. When gays were "hiking" there they would report homeless people trashing the park and they would be removed. Oh well.

Those are some lovely images youve posted Rick. What a shame [no, an outrage] that some faceless officials deem such a large area off-limits. some pressure group should get together and file an objection on grounds of discrimination.

Thanks very much Rick. At least we still have all the pictured areas. No one has used sex as an argument about the closure. Why is that the first thing people always say when they take something from us? The homeless are already living there and the fishermen are trashing the place,too. -David
David - Yeah, sex is such a dirty thing! Such a shame about the changes.
I hope those areas that you can no longer go to won't be taken over by the "clean" natural gas drilling going on. Amazing how they are able to poison people's water supply and nothing is being done about it.
