ReplyDelete1967 was the last year of stacked headlamps for full size Pontiacs.
ReplyDeleteGM designer Dick Ruzzin conceived the flared front end treatment of the 1967 Pontiac.
Pontiac was the first GM product with concealed windshield wipers, a feature extended to the entire GM lineup in 1968. Pontiac also had the first wipers to sweep parallel to each other to provide a fuller sweep of the windshield.
All from the well organized Pontiac design studio of Jack Humbert (who was half Native American :) that flourished from 1963-1972.
At times Pontiac took the lead in engineering at GM from engineering stalwart Oldsmobile.

DeleteAnd isn’t a shame how GM has fallen with way overpriced cars and trucks of extremely dubious reliability - lousy engines, transmissions and glitches galore. Serious flaws that in the GM of the glory years would have seen executives and engineers fired, instead of promotions and a golden parachute for retirement.
DeleteExecutives at GM today earn more money in one year than some executives earned in a lifetime during GM’s glory years of the 50’s and 60’s.
