The tax system reflects who bribes ("campaign contributions", etc) the politicians who write it, not what is fair. It's completely ridiculous that teachers are paying for school supplies at all.
ReplyDeleteIf Democrats want to get back in touch with their core constituency, they need to hammer away at the point that the deficit is the result of decades of accumulated tax cuts for the rich and corporations, not the result of spending. But these days they're almost as captured by billionaire donors as the Republicans are.

My only fear about that route is the substantial numbers of MAGA cult devotees that populate the active duty ranks these days, plus the thorough purges Pres. Minus-2 (45-47) & his sec'y of war crimes Kegsbreath have made of the senior officer corps, both flag ranks and field ranks. All I can hope is that the WH & MAGA leaders' adventurism so completely reveals their stupidity, personal corruption, and utter betryal of both the troops and the nation at large that the entire military and most of the population move as one to hunt them all down and remove them permanently. Alas, I'm next most afraid we'll be in a nuclear war before that happens, and the survivors will envy the dead, as Nikita K. put it back in the Cuban Missile Crisis era.

ReplyDeleteFor the 2026 school year, teachers can deduct $300 , $600 for married filing jointly couples, for supplies for the school year----As I get older the more and more I see that our society is built around the rich and what they want----They get all these tax deductions PLUS don't pair their fair share of taxes----Teachers should be paid at a minimum a livable wage according to their location----Let's say $60,000 to start----And lets throw in housing allowance----
