  2. Castles built on sand.
Many are partly occupied at around 25%-30%. Dubai is a vanity project much like Pyongyang NK, impressive and soulless. Skyscrapers are expensive to build and overtime very expensive to maintain leading to the buildings going from one owner to the next.
You’ve heard of house flipping, well Dubai has skyscraper flipping.
A speculator’s dream, though investors have been stung badly.
Many of the the buildings have no sewage connections as they rely on huge septic tanks, so specially built sanitation trucks and trained work crews are brought in to deal with that task.
Others have upper floors that are unstable, and thus cannot be occupied at all.
The skyscraper phenom is all part of Dubai’s efforts to impress westerners, though Dubai is far from a western country.
Social media darlings rave about Dubai, some of them given perks by Dubai to do so. But beware, two British women were arrested and imprisoned after being raped. Their Dubai rapists accused them of defamation ! Then there’s the sex hustling muscle boys who flock to Dubai to cater to tourists and Middle Eastern clients. A few of them of have been arrested for illegal homosexual acts and are serving long prison terms.
    Sharia law anyone ?!
And many of the construction crews and service workers are basically slaves. Many times their passports and visas are confiscated by their employers so they cannot leave. Worse off are servants of Dubai households, they are indentured slaves. So much for Dubai and its boosters.
