Steve Kelso: The legend!
ReplyDeleteWhat great memories this brings back! Steve Kelso was one of my "crushes" when I was in my 20's and was just starting to blossom into a mature, gay man!
ReplyDeleteOne of his photo shoots was at a friend's house in Southern California and I was invited to quietly watch in the background; Mr. Kelso was phenomenal to watch working and had a natural grace, posture and facial expressions that translated so well to film. Dressed or not, every pose exuded sensuality and eroticism regardless of setting or all of the people around. He certainly wasn't a "stuck up" model - indeed, he was laid back and was more one of those guys that still just couldn't quite believe that someone would be interested in staring at him for hours with lascivious thoughts running through their brains!
Despite the huge amount of print publication and positive popularity he received, he never went much further. He starred in only one 20-minute or so video scene of Buckshot Productions release of "Waterbucks 1" (a series of vignettes of beautiful Colt men set in water based settings - pools, the ocean, etc.), and in which he solo masturbated poolside; if I remember correctly, it didn't even have a "money shot" and could have been almost been classified as "soft porn."
A shame, really - to have seen him in true, serious action would have been something truly great to behold!

ReplyDeleteIn the earlier 1980s, after "Kelso" had been active in the "skin" industry for a while, becoming popular in print pictures, a video rental shop in Dallas had him in for a personal appearance one Saturday. Seeing that, I managed to be there. He appeared in all of his shirtless glory! That was when I realized how short he was! About 5' tall, but not 5'5'. He still looked great, though. As we were kind of close in height, it made me want to get into the gym more than I already way. Motivation? For a while . . . Great to see him "in the flesh".

DeleteI, also, saw him in the shop in Dallas. He signed my calendar on my birthday and was very gracious about it. He looks so much better in person than in the photos. He probably thought I was star struck but in reality I had to concentrate on keeping my self from getting an erection.
