Pagoniški Ritualai - Pagan Rituals
ReplyDeleteIn Lithuania we had strong pagan traditions going back eons before Christianity.
A rich and deeply rooted nature based tradition of sacred fires and sacred groves.
In 1387 Lithuania was the last country of pagan beliefs in Europe to be Christianize.
In Lithuania and other countries in Europa some people are going back to pagan beliefs.
Many of the holy sites built by Christians in Europa were built on the sites of pagan worship.
In Vilnius the Catholic Cathedral is built on the ruins and foundations of a pagan temple.
Other churches in Lithuania and Europa are built on ancient burial mounds and pagan worship sites from eons ago. When pagan Lithuania converted to Catholicism the missionaries equated Aušrinė the pagan goddess of the morning star to the Virgin Mary (like the goddess Ishtar of ancient Mesopotamia where the Bible story of Mary originated) and other pagan gods to saints. Just as they did with other pagan groups in Europa and the rest of the World with their gods and goddesses to gain converts.
And much of the Christian calendar of religious feasts and observations is based on pagan calendars.
The pagan Gods of Europa are not happy with the upsurping and submerging of their worship by the God of the Christians. The Christians will face the wrath of the supreme deity Dievas.
