DeleteLiving in Montreal, at less than one hour from the NY border and having 4 gay friends living in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, since 2020, I have no interest to go across the US border. Did go on a small one day trip to Plattsburgh with 2 friends from France in Dec. 2019 and it was a pain in the ass as the border officer had to investigate my French friends lives and passports etc...

USA is becoming too dangerous to visit.
Jiel....what a shame! I don't blame them one bit. On a side note, I'm heading to Rehoboth Beach in a couple weeks for my birthday to visit friends there.

Delete@Maddie, John (81yo) and Joe (84yo) are democrats and sold their condo in Florida 2 years ago to live now in their house in Rehoboth Beach. They are friends of my friends Ken (75yo) and Guy (61yo) who are MAGA Republicans. They live in front of each other. What John told me is that they NEVER talk politic with Ken and Guy. I'm surprised for Guy who is my friend for over 30years as he is a Canadian from here Montreal. But as Ken is his husband he is going on with his way of seeing politic in USA. Both are married gay couples.

Un proche a vendu son condo en Floride et a acheté un chalet de vacances en Martinique. Mon frère a annulé un voyage à Las Vegas et va à Los Cabos en Mexique.
Je ne voyage que dans les États bleus et je recherche des enterprises qui soutiennent la véritable croyance américaine en la démocratie. :)

With ALL of his noted (not by the WH) health issues, there has been no notification of whom is running things while he's getting treated. Several questions have been consistently unanswered by anybody, as speculation continues. Surely, SOMEBODY is going to write a book about this!
ReplyDeleteWe KNOW he can't read, so when he said he knew nothing about "Project 2025", there obviously were few pictures in it he could see. Yet he put the bulk of the authors of it in his cabinet, so it's happening "on autopilot", it seems.
Between the two big think tanks/advocacy groups, that is who is really running the country right now. An "autopen on steroids".
The whole issue with the protests against ICE is that they are due to the "strongmen" tactics of ICE, which the public does not like. Yes, they are getting a bit violent. No doubt some of those new employees are wondering IF that $50K+ USD signing bonus was really worth it.
IF the government was a "business", run like a business, then that business would be changing their tactics and orientations in order to stay in business. There is a REASON the people are "in the streets", just the ones in power are the reason for it. The only "lawlessness" is in the areas of the ICE locations, NOT the entire city (as some want to portray it as!). Another "orchestrated for TV drama"?
Cdadbr, the people who always say the government should be run like a business are the people who don't want to pay the costs of opperating the business.

DeleteApparently, 47% think it's trump's shutdown. 30% think the Democrats are responsible, and the rest aren't sure. That was a week ago. Now it's 37%/30%/33%...go figure.
