Airfloat Travel Trailer
Airfloat travel trailers were a brand of vintage trailers produced from the 1930s to 1957, primarily by the Airfloat Coach Manufacturing Co., founded by Omar Suttles. The company produced a variety of travel trailers ranging in length from 17 to 45 feet. They were a notable competitor to Airstream, particularly in the 1950s, known for their distinctive aluminum bodies with corrugated panels and porthole windows. While Airfloat trailers are not as widely known or sought after as Airstreams today, they offer a more affordable option for those interested in vintage campers.

My paternal grandad lived in this type trailer when he worked as a cowboy at a cattle ranch in desolate northern Nevada.
ReplyDeleteIn 1959 my dad and his brothers went to see him and were told by the ranch foreman, who pointed north-east towards Montana, that their father was on a cattle run and they could saddle up some horses and could catch up to him in 2 days !!!
Needless to say my dad and his brothers told the foreman to tell their dad they said hello, had some food from the chuck wagon and drove back home to Los Angeles.
