It's such a different history path here in Canada. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBTQ_rights_in_Canada AND we're never going back as our rights are part of our Canadian Constitution.
The Constitution of Canada does not explicitly grant or deny any right to LGBTQ+ people, however the Supreme Court of Canada has held that the open-ended wording of section 15 of the Charter protects LGBTQ+ people from discrimination based on sexual orientation. Subsection 15(1) reads:
15(1) Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability.
Thanks and Canada is still going further in the gay rigths and for any human rights in our country. Looking to you Americans we are flaberggasted, outraged and so decieved of what this puritan Christian ultra white administration is doing to your country. Many Canadians of all race, sex orientation and faith are now reconsidering going to USA for a trip or summer vacation. Our Candian government just put out USA as a «dangerous» country to visit. Tump' fear of the foreighers made it very hazardous to get our feet on American ground as we can in anytime be search on all ways just for any reasons from a police of border agent who is having a power trip. Canada is going to be for many the place to explore on vacation and Europe is also more welcoming.
The reactionary conservatives want to roll back all the social progress we have made. They even desire to go back to Jim Crow and sunset city laws and have a country where only white men with 25 acres of land are allowed to vote as it was in colonial times :( -Rj
