Somebody actually once put together a ranking of the most dangerous animals to humans, based on estimates of the total number of people killed by each type of animal throughout all of history. Humans ranked as second deadliest, after mosquitoes. So yes, if you're talking mammals only, humans are the deadliest. The creatures people fear the most, like hippos, bears, lions, sharks, and so forth, had relatively tiny numbers of victims.
