If humor and pathos could be combined in a war zone, then M*A*S*H did that brilliantly, and Loretta Swit contributed truthful meaning to the success of that groundbreaking TV show, as did all the cast members. I'm grateful to have seen every episode.
"M*A*S*H" was a brilliantly outstanding television show! Unlike any other war-related show of the time. The mix of actors and personalities of the characters showed that DIVERSITY of individuals is much better than "all the same". Like some other shows of that time, it broke "norms" as to what prime time television could and did do! Things which are not possible to do today, unfortunately. What other show could have showcased Ms. Swit's acting capabilities as well as they did. She was perfect for that character and its portrayal. May she Rest In Peace, smiling at how much she enjoyment she brought us.
I always wondered why she was in the original made for tv movie for Cagnie and Lacey but was replaced when it became a regular tv show. A wonderful actor with a great sense of timing.
