#2 is shaped roughly like what you would need to be on to design a house that way.
#3 looks like a Jawa sand crawler turned upside down, and what is that curving white thing on the roof? Some kind of sundial? Where does the stairway go down to? There's no room for a road down there. Boat landing?
Last two are good examples of the "shipping containers with floor-to-ceiling windows hideous" style which seems so heavily represented on the internet, though I have never seen such abominations in the real world. #1 at least slopes the roof a bit in an effort to look a little like something human beings might actually live in, but it's a meager improvement.
I think we need to burn all our architecture schools to the ground and start over. Medieval peasants had better style.
No.4 and 5 have too many windows for me. I can expect huge power bills for air conditionning in summer and heating in winter at least up here in Canada. Flat roofs are not suitable here with lot of snow in winter which could be too heavy after a huge snow storm.
For anyone interested: #1-Actual prefab home, similar to a double-wide mobile home, available in many configurations #2-Concept home of the future, image is CGI #3-Home built on the Isle of Capri, accessible by foot or boat, the stairway goes go up to the house #4-Actual private residence in Auckland, New Zealand #5-Closer to my home, actual private residence in Portland, Oregon. Built for a shoe designer at Nike and is actually a 3 story home with Columbia River view, what is shown is the 3rd story.

Infidel - That curving white thing is curious.
DeleteI hope there's an elevator for that silver spaceship. Could it take me away from all the bs going on around here?
ReplyDeletePat - I was thinking "there better be an elevator".
DeleteI like the idea of these homes, but... it would be like living in a park building.

A follow-up to Jiel's comment, If you can afford to build one of these homes, you can afford the utility bills that come with it.
DeleteMilleson - Wow, thanks for all that info!
