  1. Westinghouse tv set with a magnifier knob, actually it would zoom in on the image, my dad’s family had the same feature on their Stromberg-Carlson tv set back in 1949, it was called Magic Eye.
They were thrilled to have their first tv set when he was a kid in San Francisco. If you were lucky to live in NYC or LA you could get up to 7 tv stations at that time, as most cities were only served by 1 or 2 tv stations, in San Francisco they had 3. -Rj

  3. $270 would be $3500 today !
And back then that TV would be considered a bargain.
Lucky Strikes is toasted and will toast your lungs with cancer !
Most people think lung cancer only affects your lungs, but it has a nasty habit of mestastasizing to your brain. Where it can cause seizures and gradual loss of your senses : smell, taste, hearing, sight.
Marijuana and vaping aren’t safe either, don’t be lulled into believing Maryjane cures or prevents cancer, she can be a bitch.
Kiddies don’t smoke, it ain’t worth it.

  4. 1954-55 My family moved near the US border in Stanstead and dad bought a similar TV 12 inches almost like this one but it was in a vertical wooden cabinet. Remembering looking to Rumperoom if it's writen like this. There was another show with a clown and another with a robot but I don't remember the names.
    I was 4yo then.

I have some vices, but I'm glad smoking is not one of them. My Dad was a smoker, in fact he did smoke Lucky Strikes. My dad died of a massive heart attack at 55 yrs of age (too young as far as I'm concerned). I'm not saying that was the cause of his heart attack, but it most likely contributed to a big part of it.

I watch some old movies on TV and that's all they did one right after the other, light up a cigarette. Maybe they really didn't know the dangers of smoking.
