    1. MAGA does not care what the rest of the world thinks! They are doing good to see over their back fence, much less across the water. IF they can't see it, it doesn't exist. Just like climate change.

  5. How am I handling the news? Quite well, thank you. I'm enjoying a nice cup of tea, sitting in my comfy chair, sewing pink triangles on my striped pajamas and waiting for the Gestapo to come and take me to my cattle car. At least I have 2 things going in my favor. I have no gold crowns or teeth so they won't have to waste time pulling them, and I have no tattoos so they won't be making lampshades and wall art with my skin. That will bring me so much comfort until I'm taken to those nice, warm showers.

  6. Our only hope is that Senate Democrats will still be able to filibuster and prevent any Trump legislation from passing. But it remains to be seen whether the Supreme Court will allow Trump to rule by decree, since they already ruled that he cannot be prosecuted for "official acts".

  7. We thought we had a bad electoral system, when a party can gain a massive majority on just over 30% of the national vote!

  8. As a Canadian, I'm speechless to see how uneducated people can be such idiots to elect, well, the same as them.
With MAGA in total power and the SCOTUS kneeling over their new dictator, democracy in your country is dead for the next 4 years.
NOTHING will now stop him to put in place those backward policies of the Project 2025.
Wealthiest will be richer and the normal people will get poorer.
If you think that USA is a Christian country well not at all.

  10. My instinct tells me to wash myself of this country's shit. Let them have all three branches of government without complaint. It's what Americans want. No doubting or contesting this one. Things is, no one will make the connection when things start to fuck up. And when they do, the blame will be on someone else; certainly not Trump or his minions.

  11. It really, truly feels that something precious and dear to us has died. I think our collective grieving is justified but this is also a call to action. This fateful decision cannot be allowed to go unchecked and accepted as normal. Many will be called, all must be ready. I made the decision today to not fly my Stars and Stripes until I see some progress holding accountable this coming administration. Flag etiquette dictates that flying the flag upside down as a sign of political distress should not be followed. The upside down flag should only be used to signal a need for help during a natural disaster. What we are experiencing is a national disaster, there is a difference. I know we're angry, I'm angry and exhausted and numb to a point of wrapping myself in my blanket, assuming the fetal position and entering a comatose state of escape. You fellow mourners and I need to keep a cool head, let this catastrophe play itself out and do what we can when we are called to action. It will take time but must be done for the next generations of young LGBTQIA+ people who stand to lose the most from this MAGA machine filled with hatred, intolerance and judgmental minds that have lost all sense of decency and morals, because "it" told them we are second-class citizens, not worthy of consideration. And don't be surprised that down the road one of the avenues they will try to control is the internet, and more precisely the pornographers, the purveyors of pornography and the websites that share what they consider contrary to their high moral code and the teachings of their lord. We will all be demonized and it will happen if they continue to gain power. And we have to realize they're very good at seizing power, all done quietly under the radar and largely undetected until it is too late. As Bonnie Tyler sang, "I need a hero." so do we all. Thank you for letting me get this out of my system, it's been a hell of a day.

    1. Milleson - "Hell of a day" is an understatement. He and his minions will begin dismantling the very existence of this country, and the people they consider "different". I welcome anything you have to say, anytime.

  12. Dems are about "moving forward" as Reps are about "maintaining" or "moving backward". Reps learned long ago that demonizing others as "radical" or "extreme" worked well and Dems did not really counter that language, for whatever reason. Being "above the fray"? NOR should Dems have been dragged into the gutter, where Trump is used to fighting. Other Reps were powerless to defend themselves, like bashful little boys, too! They let Trump run all over them, as they were not used to his confrontation style or language.

In TX 7 million LESS people voted than when Biden was elected. People blamed Biden for all of the inflation they were seeing at the grocery store. Wait until all of the alien labor is sent home, supplies are decreased, and prices rise as a result. Think eggs are high now? Or sausage?

Nobody noticed that energy companies were making massive profits as they kept raising prices. NOBODY connected the dots! Wonder how many people on their boards vote "Dem"? Probably none. Their fiduciary duty needs to be expanded to their CUSTOMERS, not just shareholders (which includes the board members themselves!). As they can control both supply and product sales prices, at will. Using "supply and demand" as their justification. As they can restrict supply as demand remains stable. Connect the dots!

To an opportunistic business owner, if they do not raise prices, it is considered "leaving money on the table", as to their profits. So rent is raised when possible, which fuels profits for the landlords, when expenses are not rising.

They never did connect the dots as to why their car and home insurance bills keep rising, either. All of the massive losses from wildfires, weather, and hurricanes where hurricanes never had been before. Rplacement claims. Which have motivated companies to decrease writing coverage in FL and CA. Well, we are ALL paying for those replacement items, one way or another.

YouTube channel "Farron Balanced" and "Liberal Redneck" (Trae Crowder) have some good takes in the electorate.

ALL WE can do is keep up "the fight" to keep our country moving forward, as other nations keep rooting for us to do so. The next election is in TWO short years, to start to correct "the correction" of this election.

  13. We've been through GW's reign. Normally in 2 years Congress will lean back towards the Dems. But Trump will have more power than any other President. I believe the biggest problem was too many voters don't know the difference between the economy and inflation. Over and over I heard exit poll comments about it. Inflation is greed, economy is Wall Street,,,high prices have given Wall Street a good economy. Prices are high because we are still paying them. It's just easier to blame the President. The other is his detesting brown people from south of the border and his claiming that most of them were criminals. Trump could be impeached, but that would put Vance in the driver's seat. I've heard rumors that MTG would be in charge of education. None of them really thought through what he can do and how it will disrupt the existing government programs.

  14. First, don't blame the MAGA crowd. If anyone is to blame for this mess, it is the liberal, Democratic party that the blame squarely lies on.

Poll metrics show that almost 20 million LESS people voted in this election than in the 2020 election between Biden and Trump. Almost 20 million... we know that there was a surge in Republican/Conservative voters, so that shows that a good bulk of those 20 million came from the Democratic/liberal side.
Why? Why in such an important election would such a large populace refuse to vote? Easy! This year - as has been the case for the past several elections - comes down to the simple matter of the choices that were presented to the American people. Kamala Harris - never a strong person individually - was thrown up at the last second with no new message (other than "hope") or vision, essentially leaving the taste in everyone's mouth that it would just be a continuation of the Biden administration. And the other side? [censored] 'Nuff said about HIM.

So people voted with the "non-choice." Can't stomach Trump, but won't vote for Harris, no matter what. When will the Dems/Liberals stick up someone that not only projects hope, but has some new and innovative ideas to gain a true, cross-aisle majority that everyone can get behind that would actually benefit *all* of this country, and not just the "other" few (anyone of a group that the average American doesn't belong to)?

BUT... Where others see disaster, I try to take a more positive perspective on this new [old] world that we find ourselves in after Tuesday.

Are we going to have a difficult four years of active chaos ahead of us? Most likely. Are repercussions of his actions, bias, prejudices and petty, vengeful acts going to last for years? Yes, most likely. Will he damage relationships with our partners and allies that for over a century have utilized similar goals, objectives and hope for a unified, peaceful vision? Most certainly.

BUT... we have been here before, and I am not talking about the 2016-2020 first term. There have been many existential threats from despots that cloak themselves in a politician's sheepskin and tried to fool us and destroy democracy. Times like the World Wars, the McCarthy Era, the Lavender Scare, the Eugenics movement here in the US, and many others at all levels of government that had the singular notion to destroy some [or many] aspects of our lives, freedoms and rights that we hold as sacred to the spirit of the United States. Regardless of those threats - somehow, democracy has survived and even thrived, afterward.

I have to believe with the Executive, Senate, possible House and Judiciary now controlled [and out of control] with these people, that the rest of their populace is filled with strong, logically minded individuals who - while they may not be able to overcome the will of the insane nutbags in the majority - can at least do their level best at de-fanging or tempering the worst of what these people can do. It is going to be a bumpy ride - have no doubts of that - but I hope that we as a general populace have the strength to get through it.
Whatever Trump does domestically can be undone and unwound. The damage he does to America's reputation and relationships with our Allies? That may take longer and be more difficult - but it CAN be undone. That unwinding, improving and eventual healing while we try to be better is one of the greatest gifts of our constitutional republic, beliefs and ideals. It may take time, but it can happen.

The one great goal that I keep in mind (and will continue to patiently wait for!) is knowing that there is a ticking time-clock on this old orange fart; in four more years he officially expires and can't be brought to the head of the class again. It sounds like forever from now, but eventually he will become irrelevant, and just a memory of "what to avoid" in the future.
