IF this immigrant is not working, gets a TIN legally, AND is getting "all of the jobs others do not want", then HE has figured out how to "work smarter". Which can make "white guys" mad as they have yet to figure out how to do that.
ReplyDeleteIn North Central Washington state where I was born and raised, the economy is comprised of many fresh fruit crops(apples of all kinds, pears, cherries, peaches, apricots) and some cattle ranching. Guess who is used extensively to harvest these crops. Immigrants of course, legal and otherwise. The same can be said for Central and Eastern Washington where fruit, hops and wine grapes cover the area. All of those areas mostly vote the straight republican ticket. We just have to let this play out. The ripples will start slowly, not having enough labor to harvest the crops on time when the immigrant purge is implemented. This will certainly happen in Oregon and California and anywhere where farming and crop harvest are the main sources of revenue. Each ripple from policies on the books by the new administration meant to hurt, not help the people, will start making it known that an economic crisis is going to impact many, many people except the monied and privileged few. The cutbacks we will need to make from new tariffs that will be imposed will be difficult for some Seniors and low income wage earners. I'm ready to make the cuts, prepare your plan B soon. As I stated before, when the s**t hits the fan, it will splatter on all of us, and many repubs will realize what a horrible mistake they've made returning that madman to the presidency.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah. That and the meme that Bob posted over on "I Should Be Laughing" with the woman saying, "It's the economy" while she holds a cross and white robe behind her back really do explain it all.
ReplyDeleteHere in Colorado it is the same. We have produce crops we depend on the immigrants because the younger generation want everything nice but not do any work for it.
ReplyDeleteAnd you notice the policies proposed always go after the immigrant, and never the employer who illegally hires them in the first place. After all shouldn’t those employers be hiring citizens and paying payroll taxes ? Instead of being tax evaders and violating labor laws, in themselves criminal activities. :\

Bah ha. Love the concept. And I can't believe Latino men voted the way they did.
ReplyDeleteEveryone - All of you have excellent points.
