The year is 2024 and they still insist that some mid-evil contraption from the 1950's is the ONLY way to inspect the bladder.
ReplyDeleteI had that procedure done once... once. I was in pain for three days afterwards.
Don't they put an anesthetic gel on you before putting the camera in?
DeleteI love these beautiful vintage photos! Thanks Rick, it's a pleasure to come and see your blog every day.
ReplyDeleteI just went through a similar procedure with biopsies. The catheter is the worst part of the whole process. I was pissing hot razor blades for two weeks and counting. Not fun! I hope it goes smoothly for you.
ReplyDeleteYikes. Let your partner take care of you afterwards. And by that I mean "Spoil".
ReplyDeleteYou ought to have 12 catheters and still be pissing razor blades 2 years later. After prostate cancer surgery.
ReplyDeleteLove the vintage photos Rick.
With all of the advances in medical devices, you would suspect that a coating or material would have been developed to just slide right in, easily, and come out easily. Or squirt you full of silicone lube first, then know what it looked like on the cam so it could be ignored?
ReplyDeleteHope the procedure and recovery go well for you! And everything is "normal"!
Thanks for the great images!
Oh, gosh, Rick. I hope everything turns out to be okay. My brother is going for that exact procedure on Oct 2.
ReplyDeleteI hope your recovery is shorter than the folk's reports above.
Everyone - Thanks for your comments. I hope everything goes - in and then out - smoothly.
ReplyDeleteSuerte. Espero que no te hagan daƱo
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the guys who play with the sounds and such who have that exam done would tell the doc - You can't hurt me, I've had bigger things down my piss slit than that camera. And don't be surprised if I pop a boner.
ReplyDeleteAnon@12:35pm - You made me laugh.
DeleteIn my experience, the anesthetic stings a bit but the catheter/camera was not so horrible. Good luck

ReplyDeleteRick, I wish you well, and a speedy recovery my friend.
Everyone - It went well. No pain at all.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it went well. Mine also went well and I made myself watch the whole thing for some perverse reason. One of the few things I don't think I will ever try is sounding.
